About Me
I’m Susan Curtis, MD—a certified life coach, internal medicine physician, and mindfulness teacher based in Missoula, Montana.
I integrate over two decades of experience in medicine, meditation, and coaching to support individuals in deep personal transformation.
A Journey Back to the Self
In 2024, I hit the reset button on my life to hike alone on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). Why?…to fulfill a promise I made to myself over 40 years ago, to reconnect to my deepest passions, to grieve the death of my mother, to walk upon the earth at 3 miles per hour and be immersed in nature, to take one step at a time being truly present with myself, my thoughts and emotions and my circumstances. This journey pressed me hard up against my limits both physically and emotionally, I am truly grateful.
I have always been one to ask the big questions. Who am I really? What am I here to do? What is this all about? What is most important now?
The deepening of these questions and my ongoing commitment to living from a place of authenticity and integrity are alive in me as I work with others in one on one coaching and group mindfulness classes.
Summit of Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the lower 48 United States.

What Is Your PCT?
What is your next move?
What do you need to grieve and release?
What do you need to imagine and create?
What do you need to rediscover that has been lost or neglected along the way?
What is your PCT?
Let me be your guide, companion and coach to help you awaken your dream and fulfill your promise to your true self.
My Background and Training
I’ve been blessed to live in Missoula, Montana for the past 25 years where I can access nature right outside my door. I was honored to work on behalf of our nation’s Veterans at the Missoula VA clinic for 17 years and later at a small community clinic serving the general public in primary care. I’ve always had a strong inclination toward mind-body modalities, spirituality, and the deepest questions about meaning and purpose in life—which the western medical model could not fully address.
To help fill that gap, I started and taught mindfulness programs at both the Missoula VA clinic and Saint Patrick’s Hospital. Teaching mindfulness and individual life coaching has been another way to meet people where they are, listen deeply, and help catalyze the deepest kinds of transformation and healing.
Montana Mindfulness Institute
I founded the Montana Mindfulness Institute in 2015, catalyzed by my journey with ovarian cancer and the desire to live more fully in alignment with my true vocation.
The Institute is a space where I bring together my training in MBSR, trauma-informed modalities, and life coaching to help people reconnect to their inner wisdom and move forward with clarity.
